New Born Puppies

I am delighted to let you know that Myrtle has safely delivered her puppies, 2 girls and 5 boys!

Her puppies are absolutely beautiful! They range in colours and patterns... they are just amazing!!

Myrtle didn’t have any obvious signs that she was on the verge of going into labour until moments before delivering her first puppy!

Myrtle had a brilliant labour, she was very relaxed and calm from start to finish, however her last puppy (no 8 and a female) was sadly born with no signs of life. We spent 2 1/2 hrs performing CPR on the little pup and half way through it looked promising, but heart breakingly the progress stopped and we had to admit defeat. All the other 7 pups were born healthy, a good weight and all had a good pair of lungs on them.

The first 7 days are the most critical in any young puppies development. The puppies can’t regulate their own temperature and are born with their eyes and ears closed. They are completely dependent on their mother for everything, this even includes going to the toilet as they can’t do this without their mother licking their bottom to stimulate them.
